Plant Bio
locasia Polly, commonly known as African Mask or Elephant Ear, is a striking tropical plant from the Araceae family. It is admired for its bold, arrow-shaped leaves with deep green coloring and prominent white veins, creating an eye-catching contrast. The glossy foliage has a slightly wavy edge, adding to its dramatic appeal. While it remains compact indoors, typically growing up to 60 cm (24 in) in height, in its natural habitat it can reach greater sizes.
This plant thrives in warm, humid environments and requires careful attention to maintain its health. It produces small, inconspicuous flowers typical of the Araceae family, though it is primarily grown for its stunning foliage rather than its blooms. Given its sensitivity to environmental changes, Alocasia Polly requires consistent care to thrive in indoor spaces.
Plant Care
Water
Water once a week or when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause brown spots and leaf drop. Curly or dry leaves suggest, the plant is dry and needs watering. Water in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. Always check your soil before watering.
Sunlight
Bright indoor light or indirect sun. 6 hours to 8 hours
Ambient
Maintain temperatures between 18°C - 24°C. Avoid draughts as these can create undesirable temperature fluctuations. Consider giving your plant an occasional misting twice every week to maintain the optimum humidity level.
Nutrients
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season to encourage vibrant foliage.
